Spicy Crockpot Chili

With the Super Bowl right around the corner, I wanted to give you a tried and true crockpot recipe that is sure to be a hit at your Super Bowl party. You can use this recipe as an appetizer or a main meal anytime. Enjoy!

1 lb lean ground beef, turkey, or chicken
1 large onion, chopped
1/2 bell pepper, chopped
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 cup water
1 6-oz can tomato paste
1 14 1/2 can diced tomatoes w/ chilies, undefined
1 tbsp spicy brown mustard
1 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tbsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp cumin
1 15-oz can red kidney beans, drained
1 15-oz can black beans

Directions

  1. In a large skillet brown ground beef, turkey or chicken. Drain off fat.
  2. In a 6 quart slow cooker, add meat, onion, garlic, peppers, water, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, beans, mustard, chili powder, black pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, and cumin. Stir until all ingredients are evenly mixed together.
  3. Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours or high 4-5 hours.

Serving Ideas:
Serve over rice, spaghetti, macaroni, baked potatoes, or hotdogs. If desired, top with shredded cheese, sour cream, and diced onions.
