Homemade Baby Butt Cream

DIY-Homemade-Baby-Butt-CreamMy toddler son has another diaper rash. We had been road tripping a lot this past weekend. He was not complaining about being on his bum so much. But, when I changed his diaper this morning, I saw the damage of him sitting in his carseat for 4 hours at a time. It was a red, raised, tender little bum. He screamed when I tried to wipe him with a unscented wipe.

Seeing how uncomfortable my poor boy was reminded me of a wonderful homemade diaper rash butt cream recipe that I had used with my first child. This recipe works better than Butt Paste or Triple Paste.

Ingredients

1/2 cup White Petroleum
1/2 tube Lanolin
1/4 tube Lotrimin
2 tbsp Cornstarch
1/2 tube Zinc Oxide
2 tbsp Maalox

Directions

  1. Mix together  White Petroleum, Zinc Oxide and  lanolin.
  2. Add to mixture: lotrimin,  cornstarch and Maalox.
  3. Mix until smooth.
  4. If the mixture is too thin, add a little more petroleum.
  5. Store and label mixture in an airtight jar.

Discontinue use and contact doctor if diaper rash worsens or does not improve in 7 days.

Oh wow! This is pretty cool I didn’t know you could make this stuff yourself!

  6. I didn’t realize you could make this at home; I’ll have to give it a try. I’ve just been using Vaseline for my daughter as it seems to work better for her than the other stuff. Her rashes stop responding to the butt paste or Desitin after a while. I’m curious how this will work for her.

  7. I think the cellular reason for rashes is pH and hydration. I’m not a fan of some of the ingredients- but it’s a good recipe to save some money and DIY! Thanks for doing the leg work. I’ll try it in a pinch!

  8. Awesome recipe – Laila has gotten diaper rash severe times and I love how easy this is!! Thank you for sharing! Had no idea we could DIY!

  10. I might have to try this. Althought I don’t have a baby anymore my six year old sometimes needs cream like this to keep the moisture off his behind because he gets super hot.

  11. this is an awesome preparation than any other brands. Easy to do and prepare and at the same time so economical and as equal as effective as other expensive brands. All natural and made at home…Thanks for the tip.
