I recently started noticing that his “artistic” side was starting to shine outside of the bathtub. I decided to let him be artistic in the bathtub as well with this simple DIY bathtub paint set. The recipe is so simple and only requires the items-food coloring, shaving cream, and something to store them in.
Items
- Shaving Cream ($1.00 at the Dollar Tree)
- Food Coloring ($1.00 at the Dollar Tree)
- Containers to store paints in. I used old plastic baby food containers.
Directions
- Mix food coloring and shaving cream together in a small bowl of shaving cream.
- Transfer mixture to container.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 with other colors until you have 2 or 3 colors.
- Fill up bathtub, give to child, and watch the fun and creativity happen.

I remember when my mom used to do that for me as a kid. I should let the kids have some fun next bathtime. Thanks!
This looks like an AWESOME little task. I’m kind of wondering, though… will it stain the baby?
No, it does not stain the baby at all. It is important not to let it dry on the tub though, or you might have to use soft scrub or the like to get it off :)
Thanks for sharing. I have never tried this, I think my kids would love it!
I always wondered if it would stain too. But I see someone else asked, and you said it won’t. If I ever babysit, or have any more littles, I’ll have to try this! Thanks for sharing!
Very cool! This is fun for my little boy.
