While it’s frequently disregarded at the gym, a stationary exercise bike may be just the thing you need for your fitness goals if you want convenience and accessibility. The stationary bike can assist you in burning a lot of calories and toning your legs, rain or shine. Use the stationary bike as part of a comprehensive fitness routine that helps you drop extra pounds and strengthen your cardiovascular endurance.
When working out on a stationary bike, be sure to set the machine with sufficient resistance. Mixing up the resistance and RPM (rotations per minute) with intervals challenge the heart and lungs and avert monotony while pedaling on the “path to nowhere”. Below is a 30-minute stationary bike workout to get you started on using this machine if you are a beginner, or to challenge you if you have been using the bike for awhile.

That’s an awesome workout. I do 5 or 6 spin classes a week and it’s killer.
YOu can get a really good workout on a bike, but like you pointed out you need to change the resistance.
It’s a shame so few people still use the stationary bikes. I know there’s newer and trendier equipment available but a bike gives you the chance to take a walk down memory lane while getting your workout. Everyone should take advantage of that at least once in a while.
I love it when workouts are laid out for me like this!
The easier to understand, the easier it is to stick to :)
This is great. I was just thinking of getting one to mix up my workout. Sometimes it’s boring doing the same things all the time.
I totally agree!
I need to get back to spinning. I felt so fit when I had my daily routine.
i tend to stick with the treadmill but I do need to mix it up sometimes. Maybe this will inspire me to throw my body a curve-ball.
I keep telling myself to get back into the gym but I always have an excuse not to go. But I’m for sure will soon. Promise! Thanks for the stationary to help me stay on track.
Thanks for sharing, going to print and save for future reference!
This is great-I just bought a bike and needed this!
My sister loves the stationary bike.. I’ll have to forward the info to her. Thank you!
Unfortunately, the stationary bike is one piece of equipment I could never really get into. For starters, the seat hurts my butt after a while. Even when I watch TV, it is hard for me to concentrate. I even tried a spinning bike – same results. I think I need one of those digital screens for a stationary bike that act like a video game with points to distract me, then my competitive side would kick in.
That is a nice routine on the bike.. I usually do random and that kinda of does what you are saying..
now i gotta start exercising…. :D
This is great! We’ve got several stationary bikes at the gym where I workout so this would offer me a nice way to mix in a little variety so I’m not just doing the elliptical every time I go.
I see so many fitness posts about running or walking, we need more about stationary bicycling! I needed this post… as I actually have a stationary bike! Thanks :)
When I used to go to the gym, the bike was always part of my rotation. Gotta have variety in your workouts!
Pinned this! Looks like a great workout.
Thanks for sharing this! I always feel like my workouts are more effective when I have a program – and its not as boring!
I have only done spinning once and I loved it. I haven’t been working out much because of my back/hip. Do you think it would be safe?
Always speak with your healthcare professional before starting any new exercise routine.
The bike seems to be shunned by many women at the gym. I like your routine and will give it a try this week. It is important to mix up your routines so your body is stimulated and doesn’t plateau! Great Blog!!!
I don’t usually do bike workouts, but I will have to try this. Thanks, looks good!
