We all love the smell of a fresh clean toddlers. There is nothing more natural than the combination of toddlers and a warm, soapy bath. So many fun times are spent while in the bathtub. In fact, we can even use toddler bath time to help our toddlers learn and use their imaginations.
For the most part, children love the bath but sometimes bath time can become a little boring. Keeping toddlers happy in the bath involves a lot of imagination from parents to keep bath time fun and exciting.
Here are a few fun and educational toddler bath time activities and tips from our bath time routine that helps to keep bath time exciting.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to the bath water to create a colorful and exciting bath. When your toddler is old enough, let him or her choose the bath color. If you are bathing more than one child at once, let each child pick a different color and show them how mixing various colors can create a new color.
- Use a small textured wash cloth, bath poof, or sponge to wash each part of your baby’s body. Use the opportunity to name each body part as you wash. On varying days use a different textured washer so that your baby or toddler can feel different textures.
- Take a small bath toys and place in a paper cup filler with water. Place in the freeze for a couple of hours. During bath time, peel off the cup and let your little one watch the ice melt in the bath.
- Babies and toddlers love books. Get a bath books for your baby or toddler to look at and read while bathing.
- Make a batch of homemade bathtub paint.
- Give your toddler a drinking straw and allow them to blow bubbles in the water. Be careful that they do not drink the water.
- Kids love pouring water and watching it flow and splash. Let your child pour water from a plastic cup from different heights to keep them fascinated.
- At the end of bath time, let your child get use a plastic cup and fill a bucket with bath water. After the bath, use the water to water the plants or flowers in the garden. This is an excellent way to teach your child about the importance of conserving and recycling water.

I love doing special baths with my boys–especially in the winter when we go a bit stir crazy. The ice cube idea is absolutely genius! Be sure to try out a glow in the dark bath with glow sticks and holiday lights, too!

These are all super fun ideas. My son can’t play too much in the tub right now because of his broken arm and the cast he has to wear until the end of July.
